Founded in 2008, Guitars Over Guns Organization (GOGO) is a nonprofit arts-based youth development organization dedicated to empowering young people to find their voice, build confidence, and explore what is possible for their futures. Since inception, GOGO has used the power of music, mentorship, and the arts to create safe, creative spaces where students can grow and thrive as artists, leaders, and whole people.
Every young person deserves access to caring mentors, creative expression, mental wellness support, and meaningful opportunities that encourage them to fulfill their potential.
Through free in-school, after-school, summer, and community-based programming in Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami and New York, mentees are paired with trauma-informed professional artist-mentors who help foster their artistic, academic, social, and emotional growth.
GOGO is committed to creating inclusive, welcoming programs where young people of all abilities can learn, create, and belong. We recognize that every young person has different strengths, needs, and ways of learning. Families are encouraged to share any accommodation, accessibility, communication, sensory, behavioral, or other support needs that may help their child participate successfully. A disability diagnosis is not required to request support.
